WHY VISIT US?

Why is this venue great for school trips and educational visits?

We offer a unique site which lends itself to many curriculum activities for a wide range of age groups. From caves and historic follies, to the fantastic natural landscape. Our team would be more than happy to tailor make a package to suit each individual groups interests.

What does a typical school trip or educational visit include?

Your coach or minibus would drop you off at the Car Park, where you would then walk up to our Visitor Centre to check in. If not already paid, payment would be required by the group organiser BEFORE the group come into the visitor centre to ensure arrival is as smooth as possible.

Your group would then head through to the History Room where there is a short safety video that we encourage all leaders and children to watch. You are then free to head out to the Follies itself to explore the grounds. The map you will be given shows the main route around the Follies as well as key areas of interest. If you decided to walk the whole of the Follies we would recommend leaving around 3 hours to do so, more if your group has smaller children or are using worksheets as you go around.

If you have booked a Warden Guided Walk one of our team will meet you at a designated area of the Follies for 45 minutes or so helping give fun facts and snippets about the Follies as well as helping you and your group interpret what you find on your travels.

We can tailor our focus to meet the specific needs of the group. For example if they are looking at geology / geography we can focus on the caves and landscape, for history we can look at the links to the Hill family and also King Arthur.

Guided walks are designed for groups of 10-20 people. Any larger, additional guided walks would need to be booked to split the group.

We would talk to the teacher/group leader prior to the visit so that we work within their particular requirements for their key stage and curriculum groups. Discussions are had with teachers before each visit with a free visit for the organiser so they can assess how the park can fit their requirements
