An opportunity to gain experience and help support this amazing historic landscape.


VOLUNTEER GUEST ASSISTANT

Come and be part of the Follies team help our visitors explore this amazing Grade I listed landscape. This volunteering role may include giving guided walks, talking to visitors at various locations around the Park and assisting in the Visitor Centre with general jobs as needed.

We offer this role to individuals who love the Park and love talking! Perfect for individuals with some spare time who want to share their passion about the Park with a wider audience.

A typical day would include a number of hours located at a specific part of the Park welcoming visitors and explaining some of the history of that particular Folly. For the more physically fit, there would be opportunity to become involved in our guided walks with our general visitors as well as schools and groups. On quieter days volunteers may be helping in the Visitor Centre with visitor queries.

Volunteers for this role must be physically fit enough to be able to get around the Park on foot, however will not be asked to carry out heavy duty tasks.

We ask that volunteers can initially commit to 10 days with us. After this there may be ongoing opportunities for the right individuals.


VOLUNTEER PARK ASSISTANT

Come and be part of the wardening team helping look after this amazing Grade I listed landscape. This volunteering role may include clearing leaves, fixing handrails and steps, and general park maintenance.

We offer this role to help individuals gain further experience in hands on outdoor countryside management in a unique setting. Ideal for individuals recently graduated from a similar subject, or those with some experience looking to expand their practical hours.

Volunteers for this role must be physically fit and able due to the outdoor terrain and nature of the work.

We ask that volunteers can initially commit to 10 days with us. After this there may be ongoing opportunities for the right individuals.

SANTA

We are looking for charismatic individuals to step into the central role of our magical Santa Safari event running from 29th November to the 23rd December.

This important position ensures an effective and efficient delivery of toys and presents to children all over the world on Christmas Eve. However before that date, this role plays an equally vital part in providing a magical Christmas experience in the build up to Christmas Eve, meeting children as they visit Hawkstone Park Follies in your own festive real hillside Grotto.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing a magical experience to visiting children by greeting them, talking to them and providing them with a gift selected by your team of elves.
  • Always being smiley, good humoured and friendly.
  • Ability to think on your feet and answer unexpected questions from visiting children in an appropriate and fun manner.
  • Ensuring all children have an opportunity to meet you by keeping on time during the experience to prevent any delays.
  • Ability to look and sound like an authentic Santa Claus at all times whilst in costume.
  • Ability to emit a loud, robust and heart felt Ho-Ho-Ho at all times.
  • Help cover Driver or Elf responsibilities if needed during Elf driver shortages.

This role is a casual contract, with a requirement to work a minimum of 10 out of 45 shifts during Santa Safari event including weekends and evenings.  Standard shift patterns include 10:00-14:00, 13:30-18:00 or 17:30-21:30. £11.50/hour. Flexibility is essential.

CHRISTMAS DRIVERS

We are looking for friendly, sensible and confident drivers to join the Christmas team during  our magical Santa Safari event running from 29th November to the 23rd December.

This important position ensures the safe and efficient transportation of guests who are visiting The Follies to see Santa in his real hillside Grotto. Training will be provided to ensure you are confident and sensible in driving a 4x4 vehicle in convoy for the 5 minute drive from the Visitor Centre up to Grotto Hill and back again. Please note this is not a 4x4 off-roading experience, 4x4s are used due to the steep and bumpy nature of parts of the road.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Always being smiley, good humoured and friendly and enjoy talking to guests about Christmas.
  • Transporting guests safely and sensibly by 4x4 from the Visitor Centre to Grotto Hill. Ensuring safety is always the top priority, even with distracting and excitable guests in the vehicle.
  • Ability to think on your feet and answer unexpected questions from visiting guests in an appropriate and fun manner, keeping your patience where needed.
  • Ensuring the event runs on time by efficiently working as a team to load and unload correct visitors in and out of the vehicles in a safe manner, including assisting guests in and out of vehicles, fitting booster seats and ensuring the environment around the vehicle is safe.
  • Being aware of the other drivers in your convoy, keeping together in a safe and efficient team, ensuring no-one is left behind.
  • Help cover Elf responsibilities if needed during Elf shortages.

This role is for a casual contract, minimum ability to work 10 out of a possible 35 shifts during Santa Safari event running from 29th November-23rd December 2019, including weekends and evenings. Standard shift patterns include 15:00-21:00 or 10:30-21:00. £8.21/hour. Flexibility is essential. Minimum age 25yrs. Full clean driver's license required.

CHRISTMAS ELVES

We are looking for bubbly and outgoing individuals who have a love for Christmas and enjoy talking to new people.

This key role is essential to the running of Santa’s real hillside Grotto at Hawkstone Park Follies. Our elves welcome guests on arrival to the Grotto and go through their ‘Elf and Safety’ before leading them into the amazing underground festive grotto. Throughout the Grotto elves will be stationed to interact with customers, ensuring a fun and friendly atmosphere before finally welcoming them into Santa’s grotto to meet Santa Claus himself and receive their Christmas gift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming guests to the Grotto in a bubbly and enthusiastic manner whatever the time or weather.
  • Providing important guest information before showing families into the underground Grotto.
  • Assisting in children’s interactive activities within the Grotto which may include crafts or games.
  • Ability to think on your feet and answer unexpected questions from visiting guests in an appropriate and fun manner, keeping your patience where needed.
  • Ensuring the event runs on time by efficiently working as an Elf team to keep the flow of guests moving through the Grotto, ensuring there are no queues in or out to see Santa.
  • Help cover Visitor Centre Assistant responsibilities if needed during staff shortages.

This role is a casual contract, minimum ability to work 10 out of a possible 35 shifts during Santa Safari event running from 29th November-23rd December 2019, including weekends and evenings.  Standard shift patterns include 15:00-21:00 or 10:30-21:00. £8.21/hour. Flexibility essential. Minimum age 16yrs.
